About Whittle Workday

Whittle Workday is an initiative to collate relevant information in regard to language education. We conduct forums, workshops and educational events to prompt and engage opinion leaders, administrators and key industry figures in purposeful debate over continued language training evolution.

THE NEED FOR A FORUM

Foreign language education is quickly attaining a dubious secondary stature in some circles of education. The primary reason for this is in the perception of foreign languages as an add-on or as a status symbol. This point of view trickles down to students as well. Arbitary textbooks, non-cohesive attempts by various bodies to introduce foreign languages into institutions is creating a clutter, causing foreign languages to be learnt in component parts. This is not real language education.

To learn a new language is not the same as memorising the taxonomy of foreign words. Language learning requires an immersion into the culture, logic and thinking of the Country, and this is only possible through rigorous change in our current teaching systems.

Whittle Workday events are intended as markers or milestones to collate existing knowledge about language education and prompt change based on international education standards.
